I hate to even mention the tentacle sex because that is Not The Point. While there is explicit sex here, including explicit sex with non-humans, the story is not about that. It is about Ianto being slowly dissolved, transformed, and destroyed by a creature who is only trying to do its job and has no other way to do it. It’s about Jack having to watch it happen. It’s about sacrifice. This is a beautifully written tragedy. It’s one of the two or three best Torchwood stories out there.
