Summary:

The people of Atlantis can, for the most part, be divided into two groups, geeks and goons.  They understand that they need each other, that they each contribute to the survival of them all.  But they don’t always understand each other very well.  This is a series of stories about that.

Why You Should Read This:

Someone mentioned this series the other day and it reminded me how much I like these stories.

They started off as a series of gen stories by koschka.  Later, likeariver joined in and together likeakoschka  did another series, this time definitely slash.  I’ll talk here about the slash stories, but really it’s all great and fortunately there is a .pdf of the entire series.  The link in the title above goes to the  list of slash stories by likeakoschka, but check out the rest of the stories as well available here if you have a Google account (sorry, but you can’t see it if you don’t).

The slash stories  alternate between a John and Rodney POV.   John and Rodney are married and happy together.  Or at least they would be if things didn’t keep on trying to kill one or the other or both of them, which keeps getting in the way of all the fluff.  The stories are plotty as hell and full of excellent suspense, action/adventure, angst and hurt/comfort.  They are also funny.  As light as the overall feel of them is, they are very intense and the contrast leaves you holding your breath sometimes.  Re-reading them now has been been a treat.   Everyone who enjoys SGA will love these.

  1. Thank you so much for this rec, I’ve been looking for this for ever! Ihad the slash stories but I couldn’t find the others, I can’t wait to re-read them all.

  2. I’ve read a few of the gen fics and loved them – I really need to set aside some time to read the entire pdf file straight through 😀 Thanks for the rec!

    • I’ve tried both links and they seem to work for me. You are not the only one who is having trouble. I have no idea why. Try googling “Geeks and Goons pdf”.

  3. OK, I must be stupid. I’m looking for the PDF file and can’t find it. Also when I follow the link for the gen stories it takes me to a site that doesn’t exist anymore. Can anyone help? What I have read so far has got me really excited and I want to read it all, it’s just really hard to read it from Wraithbait.
Thanks for the rec, though, its absolutely fantastic!!!!!

    • I doubt you are stupid, but I just retried both links and they worked fine for me. Not sure why but it is not only you. Try googling “geeks and goons pdf”.

  4. I found out the problem. I was researching on the web and ran across someone who had the same problem we have. The person sending the links has a google doc account which is necessary for the links to work to get the pdf file. No account, no pdf. Hopefully, this will save someone else the frustration I have been having trying to find the pdf of these stories.

    • Ah, that makes sense. Sorry, but as far as I can tell, you have to give in to Google to read the pdf. I’ve seen worse reasons to give in to Google.

      • I’ll add a notice to that effect in the OP.

        • And that is the only way to get it? I’m not a fan of Google! Guess I don’t get to read.

          • It’s a PDF download so you can save it to your computer and pretend you never went near Google.

          • When I put it in a search engine all I get is the wraithbait version?

          • The pdf is on Google docs and if you aren’t a Google member you can’t see it. The original versions of the earlier stories have been deleted from most of the internet. As far as I can tell they no longer exist except on that pdf. If I am wrong and you find other versions elsewhere, let me know and I’ll make a note to that effect.
