Why You Should Read This:

This is an interesting and fairly complicated  bit of writing.  I admit it didn’t hook me at first, in spite of my long love affair with Starsky and Hutch.  I almost  quit after the first page or so and that would have been unfortunate, because within a few more pages I was really enjoying it.

It’s a good action/adventure. The author brings a lot of the old S&H stories into the future very well.  It’s a genre that I have been finding very appealing lately, though I have no name for it.  It is loosely “Old heroes have been together a long time and still love each other both emotionally and sexually”.  Maybe I like it because I am old myself.

The other aspect is the love story between John and Harold.  It’s… a little weird.   John, it seems, is madly in love, finds Harold’s “not-good-looks” and his small, disabled body very attractive, and actually masturbates to thoughts of finding Harold’s house and being welcomed home.  Harold is also enamored, but past traumas have led to some fairly serious intimacy issues and he is still a virgin.   The author treats this situation with empathy.   It’s an interesting story line intermixed with a nice bit of action and the appeal of a long-term love affair.  I liked it quite a bit.
