Why You Should Read This: This is an AU of how Sherlock and John meet, with John coming into the story as part of an arranged marriage to Mycroft. It was such an interesting concept that I had to start reading, and couldn’t put it down. In a way, Sherlock’s character here is so raw in parts, that it’s almost out of character – but in a good way. It’s how we want Sherlock to be in the BBC series. Yes, he’s a bit cold, methodical, and above all, without tact. But here, meeting John turns Sherlock’s life upside down. And there are parts of the story that just tug at your soul.
Beyond characters, the writing is so perfect, so delicate in places, and rugged in others. The phrasing of some passages is enough to take your breath away in spots and make you ache for these two to finally get together in others.
