Summary:
Ares was the God of War–Violence personified, hard and cold. That was how others saw him, and how he had come to see himself. He believed there was no room in his life for the warmer, ‘softer’ emotions–like love, or, Tartarus forbid, need.

Then Joxer, his most loyal worshiper, was willing to sacrifice himself to save Ares. Ares told himself that it was only right that he return the favor, and help the mortal heal. He told himself that once Joxer was well, that would be the end of it.

It’s never that simple, especially not when love enters the equation.

Why you should read this:
The hunky immortal God of War Ares and klutzy mortal Joxer? It shouldn’t work and yet it totally does. What starts out as a sense of obligation on Ares part soon becomes more. Not that the path is easy but with a little help from the Gods of Mischief and Joy they get there in the end. This is a side story to Scribe’s Cupid/Strife story “Cupid’s Little Helper” but you need not read that one to understand this story at all.
