Why You Should Read This: From the author’s own story notes: This is Grimm vs. the “Mystery Spot” episode of Supernatural. Or Grimm vs. Groundhog Day, if you prefer. And like both those works, there’s a happy ending, I swear! This story is in the same realm as the movie Groundhog Day, where a character relives a day over and over. Only in this story, the person reliving the day is Monroe, and by the end of each and every day, Nick dies. While this sounds bad, it’s actually a wonderfully written tale that has Monroe learning and growing as a person, and learning what Nick means to him. He learns, with the guidance of “The Tall Man”, what he has to do to get out of this timeloop, and to save Nick.
I should note, as the author did, that this story was written early on in the Grimm fandom, before certain facts about some Wesen were known. But it’s such an interesting take on the trope, and so very well paced, that it grips you from the get go, and you don’t worry about how this story’s fanon content alters from canon.
And yes, there is a happy ending. Trust me.
