Why You Should Read This: Teen Wolf is not a major fandom for me. But this fic had me staying up far too late just so I could finish (I ended up getting only 2 hours of sleep). Every year wolves have the Searching Ceremony. Derek hates it – the perfume, the desperation, the fakeness. But after the fire that took a large portion of his pack, Derek’s mother is insistent her children find mates and rebuild the pack. When Stiles stumbles into the ceremony room and is subsequently chosen by Derek, neither man realize the impact this choice will have – on each other, on the Hale pack, on the entire country.
Stiles is thoroughly whumped in this one, and there is lingering trauma due to the fire among the Hales (understandably so). Peter is delightfully creepy, but I really adore him and his relationship with Stiles in this fic. I love the development of Derek and Stiles’ relationship, and the struggles they go through. The course of true love never did run smooth, and Stiles has many struggles to overcome in this fic – werewolf hate groups, bullying, and Talia Hale herself. The characters are well-written, the plot is engaging – this is a fic hard to put down. One of the few Teen Wolf fics going on my kindle!
