Why You Should Read This:
There are many aspects of this story that I find satisfying, but there is something about John that is so compelling that it stands out amongst all the other awesome. The story kicks off with DADT being repealed and the fallout of that on the Atlantis base. Jack and Daniel’s presence on the city was a great addition.
Despite the difficult circumstances and some awful things that happen and are said, there’s a lot of humor and dignity in the face of #bullshit.
If you haven’t read it, you should. If you’ve read it, go re-read it. John’s grace under pressure makes this a standout.
Note: The author calls the story crack, but I can’t find it. So, if crackfic isn’t your thing, don’t be put off by the author note about crack. (Except maybe the fishing. And the golf. #AtlantisStyle)

I’m a little surprised that this hadn’t already been rec’d here but good job on taking care of that oversight! This is a wonderful fic, and I’ve read it multiple times. I have to agree that I don’t consider it crack, either. I hadn’t read it in at least six months, so I took this opportunity to read it again. Yup – still love it. 😉
