Summary: After two weeks away, John finally texts Sherlock. He doesn’t expect Sherlock to respond. He doesn’t expect Sherlock to keep texting him. And he really doesn’t expect things to spiral out of control so rapidly.
Why You Should Read This: I grinned all the way through this. It’s humorous without being crack-y at all.
John is at a convention and he’s bored. So he texts Sherlock, not really expecting an answer. What he gets is more than he ever expected. When John tries to go out on a ‘date’ with a pretty doctor also attending the convention, the texts from Sherlock become like another person in the room. Even a relative stranger can see the relationship that John and Sherlock are in.
But it takes some serious pining, awkward conversations and jealous snits before our boys get together. But when they do, it’s still awkward and funny!
Thanks so much for sharing this. It was great. 🙂
John is very empathetic, and he just has this ‘connection’ with Sherlock that I honestly think would eventually come through in this (admittedly bizarre and unlikely) scenario. One of the things I loved when I came back and added the last section just recently was that suddenly the texts were so very Sherlockian. Suddenly it was Sherlock texting without fear of being recognized, in fact, he’s unconsciously letting the cat out of the bag and hoping John catches on so that he doesn’t have to actually say it. He is really, honestly wishing that John hand known it was him all along, but knowing that he’d been putting on an act, the next best thing is to not actually have to tell him, to give him the clues to figure it out himself.
