Why You Should Read This:

This is a story of two broken men who survive the war with Voldemort but badly. And differently. And not necessarily well.

Harry stays on at Hogwarts, to repair the castle and basically to hide. In a moment of strength – or weakness –

“In the book of the past Harry no longer exists. In grief and rage he’s wiped out the war, the memory within the wizarding world of who he is and what he’s done, removed the names of the roll of the dead and the guilty living. He has made himself almost powerless in the eyes of other wizards and pays the price in dreams he cannot share.”

Until a broken and almost dead Severus crawls back to Hogwarts, drawn by the power Harry still exudes.

They come together when Harry, in an act of contrition, assists Severus in repairing the library of books Harry had destroyed immediately after the war, before he understood what Severus really did to help defeat Voldemort.

Harry and Severus essentially trade favors – and find their own kind of peace. It’s not a pretty, fluffy relationship but it fits who they are.
