Because it’s a sweeping and brilliant retelling of the first five seasons of the show set in the background of a universe with werewolves and witches. John is a reluctant Alpha but he is a force of nature from the very beginning. His character development is the biggest accomplishment in this fic–he works through the loss of so many as he comes to terms with his wolf’s desire to mate with McKay. Highly recommended.
