Derek thinks that the mating rituals are overly romanticized bullshit, but claiming a mate and defending them from challengers is something werewolves do, and his pack can’t afford to appear weak after the fire. Especially not when Deucalion and his friends are in town for the rituals. Enter Stiles Stilinski, who offers to let Derek claim him so he won’t be overrun at the ceremonies. Why You Should Read This:
I’m on a Derek/Stiles kick at the moment. KouriArashi is hands down one of my current favourite authors in this fandom. Her other mating ritual fic, Divided We Stand, has previously been recced on this site. It was actually that rec with first put me onto KouriArashi’s stuff.
This particular story sucked me in and threw me out the other end desperately wanting more. Despite the fact that this story was written off the same prompt as Divided We Stand, they are two very different stories and two different worlds. I loved both stories, and re-read them whenever I get the need for those well loved fics that everybody has and returns to frequently.
